Gallery District - Los Angeles

Downtown living reminds me a lot of college life. I think the people who move here fall into a few categories, but the easiest ones to pick out are the artists and the people who party. You can mostly tell by how someone dresses or just how obnoxious they are (the more obnoxious, the more they party). Since my loft is right in the middle of the Gallery District, I am in center of a lot social groups and different art scenes. One of the more notable things is how Fine Arts is taken with extreme seriousness. It's a solid mix of lowbrow and high art. It's funny to me because Fine Arts during school was a joke to most of the students. The partiers here remind me of the those fine artists. It was equal parts throwing paint on a canvas, getting high, and trying to justify their "Warhol lifestyle." I'm not passing judgement, just stating facts. The difference now is those traits reside in different groups in the Gallery District. It's fun to watch and I have a lot to learn here.
